Programme highlight
URA Building Rehabilitation Resource Centre (BRRC), covers an area of 7,500 square feet, is a one-stop centre providing information and technical support for property owners. It showcases knowledge about building rehabilitation through innovative and interactive exhibits, provides property owners with assistance to online applications of various financial schemes, as well as enhances the capacity of owners’ organizations by providing meeting facilities. The BRRC also features Hong Kong’s first “building dilapidation” 4D immersive cave to give a shocking moment to the visitors to experience building dilapidation virtually.

The technical visit with maximum of participants of 20.
Participants are not required to bring along with their own personal protective equipment.

Title: Technical Visit to Urban Renewal Authority (URA) Building Rehabilitation Resource Centre in To Kwa Wan

The captioned technical visit to URA Building Rehabilitation Resource Centre in To Kwa Wan was organised by HKIE Building Division on 15 July 2023 and was well-joined by 22 HKIE members.
Building Rehabilitation Resource Centre is a multi-purpose centre providing one-stop building rehabilitation related information and assistance services, including video consultation service, multi-purpose rooms and mediation rooms. An exhibition area comprising of three distinct zones, namely “Knowledge”, “Finance”, and “Capability”, has been established within the centre. The purpose of this exhibition area is to offer interactive and informative content that will raise public awareness regarding building management and the importance of timely maintenance.
Ir Louis Lee, the General Manager of Building Rehabilitation of URA, providing a professional guided tour to the HKIE members. He showcased the various sectors of the exhibition zone and emphasized the features and functions of each area with the assistance of the artificial Intelligence robot “BRbot”. He also shared the information on the reasons and timing for building rehabilitation, offering a 3-D presentation for the public, creating a building rehabilitation experience area to familiarize the public with urgent situations, outlining the 6 steps of building rehabilitation and their corresponding items etc.
A PowerPoint presentation by Ir Louis Lee on the building rehabilitation platform was held at the end of the guided tour. He stressed that the maintenance of old buildings in Hong Kong became very important to ensure the quality of the living and the safety issue. The recent of building concrete spalling cases that might be caused by insufficient building maintenance was very good examples. An interactive question-and-answer session was held immediately after the presentation.
This technical visit provided participants with a good opportunity to understand the needs of building management and the importance of building maintenance and the procedure of building rehabilitation in Hong Kong.
