The Establishment of Ir Francis Tong Man Kan Memorial Fund
In remembrance of the late Ir Francis Tong who was the Past Chairman of the Building Division (BD) for Session 2005/2006, the BD Division, supported by the Architectural Services Department Structural Engineers Association (ASDSEA), and Mrs Sara Tong, has set up the Ir Francis Tong Man Kan Memorial Fund.
The fund was formed by donations from all friends, relatives and colleagues of the late Francis Tong on a voluntary basis.
It is managed by a Management Committee composed of seven people including five representatives from the BD Committee and Building Discipline Advisory Panel, a relative of the late Ir Francis Tong and a member nominated by the ASDSEA.
Donations were received since second half of 2008. Three Awards have already been set up. They include:
Student Representatives
Award to the Student Representatives serving the BD Division who are selected from the Undergraduate Course in Building Engineering from:
- Department of Building & Real Estate of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University;
- Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering of the City University of Hong Kong;
Best Individual Dissertation
Award to the Best Individual Dissertation in the Undergraduate Course of Building Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the City University of Hong Kong;
Best Performance
Award to the Graduate whose has the Best Performance in the Building Discipline Membership examination.
