There is always conflict between preserving historic buildings and compliance to current regulations. The process has been tedious and bitter but the end result is encouraging as Tai Kwun (The former Central Police Station) is well received and enjoyed by the public since its opening on 29 May 2018.
In this connection, members will be led to Tai Kwun for showing the challenges which the design team has overcome in this largest conservation project ever in HK with some building fabrics constructed over 150 years ago.
The technical visit is free-of-charge. Prior registration is required. The number of participants is limited to 30 and the seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Priority will be given to HKIE-BUD’s members. Please submit the standard application form by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Only successful applicants will be notified via email on or before 10 September 2018. Please be informed that if you are not being contacted after submitting your application, you may consider your application unsuccessful.
